A fantastic Kimbrerskue for Bloksdal Charolais!
As announced, we participated this year with four catalog entries, and the first animal in the show ring on Friday was Bloksdal VeryBelle (Heracles M x Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET). She competed in a class with four other quality heifers and weighed 536 kg at the show. She won her class with 23 points and was nominated for participation in the Honor Prize Competition later that day.
Next in the ring was Bloksdal UltraBelle (Glasgow x Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET). She competed against two other heifers and weighed 873 kg. She also achieved the title of class winner with 23 points and was nominated for the Honor Prize.
After that, Bloksdal Unika (Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. x Bloksdal Opal) entered the ring. She weighed 859 kg and was in a class with three other excellent heifers. She finished fourth in the class with 22 points.
The last individual to be judged was Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET (Vaillant x Anabelle). She was the heaviest exhibited female at the show, weighing 1,140 kg. She competed in a class with three other large cows without calf. Despite being older than the others, Mirabelle achieved second place, only beaten by the eventual overall champion. She also scored 23 points and was nominated for the Honor Prize.
Finally, we exhibited a cow family consisting of Mirabelle and her two offspring, UltraBelle and VeryBelle. The French judge, Jean-Louis Riotte, was particularly impressed by this family, which was likewise nominated for the Honor Prize.
In the Honor Prize Competition, there were 23 participants. VeryBelle finished just outside the prizes, while UltraBelle placed ninth overall among the 52 exhibited Charolais cattle. Mirabelle achieved an excellent fifth place, and the cow family was placed fourth overall with 24 points.
This resulted in three Honor Prizes awarded by the Danish Charolais Association, Thy Slagtehus, and Birkelse Beton & Transport.
On Saturday, we also participated in two cross-classes: Best Insemination Sired Heifer under 24 Months and Best Breeding Group. Out of about 35 animals, VeryBelle placed joint second, while the cow family we showed in the breeding group competition was not placed.
Finally, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this year’s Kimbrerskue such a great event.
We at Bloksdal Charolais truly enjoyed all the days in Aars and would like to congratulate all exhibitors on their prizes and placements.
