Sale of quality meet

In everyday life, the animals’ well-being and breeding work is a great source of inspiration for us. But in addition to selling breeding animals, we slaughter about 10 animals every year. They are all slaughtered and finely chopped under veterinarian-controlled conditions at Hadsund cattle slaughterhouse – part of Himmerland meat. In addition to meat, we are also sellers of the original Charolais wine. A wine that goes perfectly with a piece of primary beef. If you are interested in Danish-produced beef, where animal welfare is on top and the quality of the meat as well – then contact Bloksdal Charolais.

Holly has been slaughtered

Today we slaughtered one of the oldest cows in the herd. It is Kristina nine year old cow Bloksdal Holly V.B. (Aros Hvirring x Bloksdal Smilla V.B.) who has been slaughtered. Smilla managed to have seven calves, including several sets of twins. Holly weighed almost 500 kg at slaughter and went in a good classification. Despite her good body and temperament, she has never been exhibited at an animal show.

A polled heifer calf

Today we got another calf. This time it was Bloksdal Mercedes P (Uvejr Av Strömsnäs x Bloksdal Elana -ET) who got the calf. She manages this all by herself and extremely fast.
We could follow the calving eith the help of iPhone and iPad through our monitoring system and could see that it took less than 10 minutes from the time we could see the legs of the calf until it was born.
The calf is a polled heifer calf after Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle). It weighed 50 kg at birth, gets no. 402 and must be named Bloksdal Superb P.

The first calf of the year

Tonight we have the first calf of the year. It was Bloksdal Lavender (Bloksdal Invincible x Bloksdal Dahlia) who got the calf. The calf was born backwards and lay on its back, so we had to have some help to turn it. The calf is after Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle) and weighed 44 kg at birth. We have decided the calf will be named Bloksdal Silke and will be number 401.

Happy New Year

Bloksdal Charolais would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the past year. A very special year, which due to COVID-19 did not turn out as we had expected. Despite this, we look forward to the new year and wish everyone a happy new year.
Read more about the past year here on our website, in our latest post.

The year that went

2021 is fast approaching. Here at Bloksdal, we would like to look back on the year 2020, and come up with a small report on this.
2020 was the year where we, due to the worldwide pandemic (COVID-19), did not go to any shows. We had otherwise this year looked forward to participating with more debutants.
Since we can not come up with any animal show reports, this year we have chosen to take a closer look at numbers and indices. The Charolais breed’s average for S-index is 101, while in our herd it is 107. In the year 2020 we have 1.1 calves per. year shoes against the race average of 0.9. The average age at 1 calving is 25.9 months in our herd against the 30.2 months, which is the average of the breed.
Annual weight of bull calves in our herd is 661 kg, while at national level it is 603 kg. For heifers, the national average is 478 kg, where in our herd it is 470 kg.
This year we have had 13 calves on 12 calves. This year we have sold 3 animals for breeding (2 bulls and 1 heifer). We still want to slim down our herd and therefore have regular animals for sale, which is why interested and visitors are always welcome.
In conclusion, we would like to say thank you to all the guests and visitors that we have had here on the farm. We all wish you a Happy New Year.

Satisfied customers

We received this picture shortly before Christmas Eve in a Christmas greeting from Ulla and Kristian, Djursland.
They bought Bloksdal Ole (Bloksdal Linux –ET V.B. x Bloksdal Ily) a few years ago. In the letter, they mention i.a. his good temperament as well as his good qualities as a father, including light calving and high growth.
If you need a new bull or a female, we currently have more for sale. Check the tab animals for sale and do not hesitate to contact us by email or phone if interested.

Calf number 400

Today we have calf number 400 born here on the farm. The calf which is a bull calf was born by Bloksdal Liqueur (Vanggaard Daddy -ET x Bloksdal Bailey). She continued to go out on ryegrass and when she got the water calf she came to the stable and gave birth to the calf herself.
The father of the calf is our current stock bull Bloksdal Matador -ET (Vaillant x Anabelle).
The calf must be called Bloksdal Red Bull.

Winter update

This weekend we have brought the animals home from the neighbor, so we only have animals walking out on ryegrass at home around the farm.
The animals in the field are fed with potato pulp and wrap in hay hedges.

An early Christmas present

This afternoon we got an early Christmas present here on the farm. Anders ’cow Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET (Vaillant x Anabelle) from Elevage Sallé charolais got a calf. She had long been ready to calve, and yesterday the redemption came. She gave birth to a large, lovely heifer calf of 58 kg. The calf was very fresh and was already standing on its own two feet and drinking milk after an hour or two. The calf is after the famous French bull Glasgow (Apache x Dentelle) from Elevage Picaut. It will be called Bloksdal Rosabelle and will be no. 399.
