Home from local show in Hjørring 2023

We have now returned home from our first show of the summer. The Show in Hjørring was a little different this year, as Helle and Karsten were invited to the Golden Wedding at Læsø by Kirsten and Bjarne. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them and wish them the best of luck.

It was therefore Kristina, Martin and Anders who exhibited at the show this year. We had three animals with us, all of them did well. We got two first places and one second place. Overall, Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET (Vaillant x Anabelle) was fifth, earning an honorable mention, while Bloksdal Tur Beau (Neptune JC x Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET) was seventh.

Now we look forward with great excitement to the upcoming National Show in Herning. In conclusion, we would like to congratulate everyone on their prizes and positions and say thank you for the honorary prize from Realkredit Danmark

Local show in Hjørring

In 14 days, the local show in Hjørring will once again run out of stock. We participate as usual with our lovely white animals.
This year we have chosen to participate with four catalog numbers. There are two debutants and two more experienced.
First debutante is not really a debutante, as he has previously been exhibited with his mother. But this is the first time we are exhibiting Bloksdal Turbeau (Neptune JC x Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET) as a single animal. He was born on 22/06/2022.
Next animal is a true debutant. This is our new stock bull, Torndao P Hvirring (Indou PP x Polka Hvirring P), which is from 06/03/2022.
The next animal we exhibited with great success last year, she only achieved 24 points. It is our heifer Bloksdal Special Lady (Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. x Bloksdal MiLady), which is from 02/04/2021.
The last animal in the line is Turbeau’s mother, Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET (Vaillant x Anabelle). She is from 03/12/2016 and exhibited several times with great success.
In any case, we are looking forward to a few good days in Hjørring with good colleagues and healthy competition among the animals

Bloksdal MiLady has had a calf

Despite the fact that Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle) is no longer stock bull with us, we fortunately benefit from his genes. He has thus become the father of a fresh bull calf weighing 48 kg.
The mother is Bloksdal MiLady (Vanggaard Daddy -ET x Bloksdal Unak -ET).
This combination is, among other things, parents of Bloksdal Roman and Bloksdal Special Lady, which we have previously exhibited with great success on shows. The calf will be numbered 423 and will be called Bloksdal Uman.

Matador is sold

A good story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Today we had to accept the end and say goodbye to Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B (Vaillant x Anabelle). He has been sold to Ulla and Kristian Pedersen in Mørke in Djursland.

The story started in France in 2016, where we purchased four embryos of Elevage Sallé charolais from @pierreyvessalle. Here we got Mirabelle and Matador.

He is born on 29/11/2016 and has been with us since. He has, among other things, participated in several shows. In 2018, he received an honorary prize and became the second best younger Charolais bull and winner of his group at Kimbrerskuet.

He has worked as a breeding bull with us in recent years and has therefore not been exhibited that much himself. In return, his genes have manifested themselves several times at shows. He is father of Bloksdal Special Lady, which we exhibited with great success last season, where she excluded obtained 24p at the shows she participated in.

In addition to his obvious genetic characteristics, his temperament is completely unique and, as the video shows, it is a very special bull that we have today said goodbye to and written the last chapter around. Fortunately, we continued have his full sister Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET. We hope that Matador and Ulla and Kristian Pedersen will be a good match, wish them luck and say thank you for the deal.

Animals on grass

We have closed the first animals on grass in the meadow. Five cows that had all had bull calves in the autumn, which is why their calf has now been weaned.

Bloksdal MiLady has had a calf

Despite the fact that Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle) is no longer a stock bull with us, we fortunately benefit from his genes. He has thus become the father of a fresh bull calf weighing 48 kg. The mother is Bloksdal MiLady (Vanggaard Daddy -ET x Bloksdal Unak -ET). This combination is, among other things, parents of Bloksdal Roman and Bloksdal Special Lady, which we have previously exhibited with in shows with great success. The calf will be numbered 423 and will be called Bloksdal Uman.

We had hat a visit from our regular hoof pruner, Fjellerad Hog Pruner by Palle Christiansen. We have had all our cows pruned as well as our stock bull. Now we are soon ready to let the animals out in to the meadowsHoof trimming

Bloksdal Unika has come into the world

Calf number 422 has now been born here at the farm. Bloksdal Opal (Cristal-DK x Bloksdal Hæmatit) has had a calf. She herself gave birth to the 55 kg heifer calf. The calf is by our stockbull Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle).

Examination of pregnancy

We are waiting for the last calves and for the weather to allow some field work. In the meantime, we have had the last females examined for pregnancy.

We can therefore inform you that we expect calves from the following bulls this autumn;

  • Major (Berlioz x Charmille)
  • Glasgow (Apache x Dentelle)

Fantastic weight

Our new bull Tornado P after the French polled bull Indou PP (Cabar P x Faustine) and Polka Hvirring P (Chic x Katrine Hvirring P), which we bought from Hvirring Charolais from Jette and Bjarne Pagh in December, has today delivered a fantastic 365 day’s weight.

Today he was weighed on a bridge scale, which said an impressive 740 kg. Which is corrected to an annual weight of 708 kg. He weighed 59 kg at birth, which means he has gained 1778 grams per year. day since he was born.

The Danish Charolais breed average for bulls at 365 days is 595 kg, while the average for daily gain is 1490 grams.

We are very excited to follow his continued development, and are still very happy with him and his good temperament.
