2024 is fast approaching. Here at Bloksdal, we would like to look back at the year 2023 and come up with a small report about it.
This year we participated in three shows and received five honorary prizes. The honorary prizes have been awarded to these five different animals, which we are very proud of and says something about the quality of our herd:
- Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET (Vaillant x Anabelle)
- Bloksdal Rosabelle (Glasgow x Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET)
- Bloksdal Taurus (Neptune JC x Bloksdal Jelena)
- Bloksdal Special Lady (Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. x Bloksdal Milady)
- Bloksdal Opal (Cristal-DK x Bloksdal Hæmatit) with calf by Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle)
First prize was awarded at the local show in Hjørring in June, where Mirabelle received prize. The next show was the National Show at the beginning of July in Herning. Here it also went well for the herd, best of all for the daughter of Mirabelle and Glasgow (Bloksdal Rosabelle), who was placed overall as number five and second best heifer at the show. Finally, there was the show called “Kimbrerskuet” in October, where Taurus, Opal and Special Lady all received an honorary award. The best went for Special Lady, who also won the predicate best female at the show.
In addition to shows, we have sold quite a few animals both for slaughter and for living. We have sold six animals on for live use, while we have slaughtered six animals. We would like to thank both purchasers of meat, which have been bought privately directly from slaughterhouses, as well as buyers of live animals.
This year we have had 13 calves from 12 calvings. We still want to slim down our herd and therefore regularly have animals for sale, which is why interested parties and visitors are always welcome.
In the past year, we have held two open houses with a total of over 125 visitors. We plan to hold another open house together with Dansk Kødkvæg first in the new year (on 6 January 24 at 10-16 ed.), where visitors are welcome.
At the time of writing, we have over 700 followers on Instagram and 2000 on Facebook. We are happy and proud that you will follow our work with the beautiful white animals.
In conclusion, we would like to say thank you to all the other guests and visitors we have had here at the farm, but also people we have met around at various shows and in other connections.
