Visit by Charolai’s interested people

Yesterday we had a visit from the Vestjysk Charolais Association, which this year held their yearly summer event on our farm.

Around 25 attended the event, which started with a tour at Lille Vildmose. Then we drove around two of our fields and saw our animals and ended up here and saw the last animals at the farm.

We ended the day with dinner on the terrace.

A really good day. We always enjoy having visits and visitors are always welcome with us.

The National Show 2019

The national show in Herning is now over. It has been a good week, despite the very unstable weather with both sun, rain and much wind.

We exhibited three catalog numbers this year. The first animal in the ring to be judged by French judge David Riviere was Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle). He weighed 1143 kg at the show. Matador finished second in the group and scored 22 points. A tough start for our lovely bull.

Next in line was Bloksdal Opal (Cristal-DK x Bloksdal Hæmatit). She weighed 683 kg and finished fourth with 22 points in a large group of fantastic heifers.

Last was Bloksdal Mirabelle – ET (Vaillant x Anabelle), who weighed 907 kg. She was a little disappointing at number three, in the group with extraordinarily good heifers. However, she was given 23 points and would later take part in the honorary prize competition. Here, 23 Charolai’s animals were shaved down to eleven prize animals. Despite her third place in the group, Mirabelle was placed as a beautiful number nine, which earned an honorary prize from J Hundahl in Thisted. This was the fifth honorary award at the National Show within the last five years, with four different animals. Which we are very proud of and suggest our breeding work goes really well.

On Friday, Anders and Martin participated in the Danish Championship in mustering. They both did really well, with Anders in the top ten and Martin in the top five.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who helped make the days at the national show very good days, we at Bloksdal Charolais have at least enjoyed all the days in Herning. We would like to congratulate everyone on their awards and placements.

REMEMBER that on our facebook page you can view or review the rating, the honorary prize competition and the auction. The pictures from the show are available here on the website under “photo albums”.

Home from local show in Hjørring 2019

We have now just returned home from an excellent weekend at the lokal show in Hjørring. As we announced yesterday our cattle Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET won the predicate best Charolais (thereby also best female and heifer) and got 24p. She weighed 900 kg. She competed on Saturday for the competition interbreed across all beef cattle breeds and was number four overall.

In addition, we participated with our 2.5 year old Charolais bull, Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (brother of Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET). He weighed in at 1145 kg and won his group and got 23p and later took part in the honorary prize competition. We also had Bloksdal Opal at the show. She was in group with 7 other really good Charolais heifers. She was the heaviest in her group and was assigned 23 points.

Finally, we had Bloksdal MiLady and Olympia. They both got 22 points. Milady is a young first calf cow, which is difficult to get properly in show form when she also milking her calf very well. Olympia is a heifer for the future as most of all was involved in experiencing a show.

All in all, an excellent show for our family and farm. Now we look forward with great excitement to the national show in Herning.
