Nobel Prize to Bloksdal Charolais

Yesterday we got the last calf of the year. Martin’s heifer, Bloksdal Nobel (Vanggaard Daddy -ET x Bloksdal Champion), became a cow.

Unfortunately, this was not without problems, as the calf was both born back and lay on its back. We therefore contacted the Veterinarians Himmerland, who sent Torben Bennedsgaard, and together we succeeded in getting a live Lorsini heifer calf of about 40 kg behind.

Martin has decided that the calf should be called Bloksdal Price (386). That’s how Bloksdal Charolais got its own Nobel Prize

The gate is opened

Today we have opened the gate, so the animals can now go in and out of the barn. At the same time we weaned some calves from their mother. These calves are now tied up in another barn over the winter. This means a little work for our regular cattle mower, Kristina. Fortunately, both she and the calves enjoy her work.

Successful rating of the herd

Last Friday we had Inspector Torben Andersen to visit our herd. He should rate the animals that were not previously rated, which was a bull and seven cows – thus all the animals in our herd are now rated. Today’s result in averaged was 85,7 and we have no below 82,0 on average. The national average is 80,0 so we are proud of this result. All of our animals are pure-bred Charolais with average S-index of 107, with an average of 100. Over the past 12 months we have had 1.2 calves per year per cow-year. This is also pretty good as the breed average is 0.9 calves per year. So the conclusion is that Bloksdal Charolais is doing pretty well. It’s nice, it’s not just the few animals we bring to animal show that are successful. But that whole herd in general is doing well and are over average.

Bloksdal Jelena has had a calf

ThisThis afternoon our good neighbor Kaj called us to tell that we have got a new calf. The mother was still at grass by Kaj and his wife Klara, on land we rented from them. We were very excited when we drove over to bring mom and calf home, as we did not mean to have some pregnant animals at this time. But Bloksdal Jelana (Utrillo-BP x Bloksdal Elana -ET) walked around with a fresh bull calf. The calf is after our folding bull Bloksdal Linux -ET VB (Bourgogne x Une Fleur) which is why the calving date has cheated us and the inseminator. Cow and calf have now been brought home and are dry and well in the barn, while the calf has also been weighed. It has a birth weight of 56 kg, number 385 and is called Bloksdal Pondus.

Orkide is sold

We have today sold the first heifer calf after our stockbull Bloksdal Linux -ET VB.
We have sold Bloksdal Orkide (83459-00371) which is after Bloksdal Lavendel (Bloksdal Invincible x Bloksdal Dahlia) and Bloksdal Linux -ET V.B. (Bourgogne x Une Fleur).
She has been sold to Agnethe Rasmussen at the age of 15 from Bindslev, who herself has saved up to this heifer. We hope that Orkide and Agnethe will be a good match, wish them the best of luck and say thanks for the deal.
We still have several good heifer calves for sale with high index on birth and milk. Call or write for more information.

Liqueur has got a calf

Today we got another calf. This time it was Bloksdal Liqueur (Vanggaard Daddy -ET x Bloksdal Bailey) who got calf. She gave birth to a heifer calf of 57 kg after Bloksdal Linux -ET VB (Bourgogne x Une Fleur). The calf gets number 384 and is called Bloksdal Pina Colada.

Mirabelle has got a heifer calf

On Tuesday (15/10/10 ed.) The second calving of the season became a reality, as our super heifer Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET (Vaillant x Anabelle) got calf for the first time. She easily gave birth to a heifer calf after Lorsini weighing 51 kg. In fact, under 5 minutes passed from the legs were visible until the calf was behind he mother. Anders has decided that the calf should be called Bloksdal Premiérbelle and it will be number 383.

The calving season has begun

Bloksdal Charolais started the calving season on Wednesday with a Cristal-DK bull calf. The calf arrived a little earlier than planned, so it was born out in the field without any problems. Subsequently, the mother and calf have come to the stable.
The mother is an second calving cow; Bloksdal Miva (Bloksdal Juvel x Bloksdal Diva). The calf weighed 55 kg at birth, gets No. 382 and is baptized Bloksdal Pilou.

Home from the show “Kimbrerskuet 2019”

We are now home again frome this year’s last show, Kimbrerskuet 2019 in Messecenter Vesthimmerland, Aars. We had all three animals on the show, which for Charolais started last Friday.

The first animal to be judge by judged Søren Hauge was for us, Bloksdal Matador -ET VB (Vaillant x Anabelle). He finished second in his group with 22 points. The next animal in the ring was Bloksdal Olana (Bloksdal Linux -ET V.B. x Bloksdal Jelana). She was in a large group with eight registered heifers. Olana was placed in the middle of the group in a 4th place with 23 points in a strong group of heifers. Last animal in the ring was Bloksdal Opal (Cristal-DK x Bloksdal Hæmatit). She was in a group with five registered heifers. Here, she was placed in 2nd place with 23 points and would later participate in the honorary prize competition. Here the 59 registered animals were shaved down to 17 competing animals, and these 17 were further reduced to 10 premium animals. Among these 10, our heifer was Bloksdal Opal, and we received an honorary award from Danish Crown.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who helped make the days at Kimbrerskuet some good days, and we congratulate everyone on their awards and placements. A special congratulations to the Charolais race, who did well in Saturday’s cross competitions, with the other breeds. Special congratulations to Kristensen I / S, Agerskov, and Jan Larsen, Hansesgaard Charolais.
