5 days old

When you are five days old and already have to come with your mother out in this lovely weather (Iris de Bat with her calf Bloksdal Riis)

Iris has calved

We have got this fine calf this afternoon. It is Kristina’s cow Iris de Bat who has given birth to a calf. The calf, which is a bull calf of 57 kg was born without help and is after our previous fold bull, Bloksdal Linux -ET V.B. (Bourgogne x Une Fleur). The calf gets no. 394 and will be named Riis.

Bloksdal Jæmatit -ET

Today’s cow is Bloksdal Jæmatit -ET (324). She is from 21 September 2014 and has given birth to four calves. She is now pregnant with our fold bull Bloksdal Matador -ET V.B. (Vaillant x Anabelle).
On the father’s side she is after the French top bull Bourgogne (Pacha x Noblesse), while on the mother’s side she is after Bloksdal Hæmatit (Utrillo-BP x Bloksdal Diamond -ET).
She is not the most significant cow we have, but a cow we not want to live without. She is a cow with lots of milk and delivers the best calf every year. Previously, she has also proved her worth, as she have received an honorary prices and 24p at the National Show in 2016.
Like her mother and grandmother have previously won honorary prices at various shows around the country.

Bloksdal Jelana

Bloksdal Jelana (319) is today’s cow. She has turned 6 years old this year (April 6, 2014). She has given birth to four calves and is expecting a Cristal-DK calf this autumn. On the father’s side, she is after the French top bull Utrillo-BP (Major x Fatcha). Utrillo’s father, Major, is the bull who, over time, has delivered the most winners at various animal shows in Denmark.
On the mother side she is also after a winning cow Bloksdal Elana -ET (Turbo CE71 x Bloksdal Bailey). Elana has won an honorary award at The National Show, Kimbrerskuet, Hjørring and Hobro animal show. Like Elana’s mother Bailey has won honorary awards at several shows.

Iris de Bat

Today’s cow is Iris de Bat, which Kristina bought from Sussi and Karsten Kjærgaard, Viborg, back in 2013. Iris turned 7 years old in January and is currently expecting her calf number 6. She has run with our former stockbull Bloksdal Linux -ET V.B. (Bourgogne x Une Fleur). On the father side is Iris after Ecrin de Bat (Turbo CE71 x Star de Bat).
On the mother side, she is after Celeste de Bat (Pallas Tonic -ET x Unna de Bat). Iris is one of our largest and most significant cows, which breeds fantastically. Several of he calf have been sold on to breeding herds.

Bloksdal Holly V.B.

Another of the herd’s oldest animals. This time 8 year old Bloksdal Holly VB. Holly is currently walking with her calves number 6 and 7. In fact, Holly has managed to get her last four calves in under 12 months.
Holly is on the father side after Aros Hvirring (Birkely Mark x Ofelia Hvirring). Aros was bought from Bjarne Pagh and was for a long time the best tested charolais bull in terms of low feed consumption in Denmark.
On the mother side she is after Bloksdal Smilla V.B. (Irlandais x Grønstedet Flance -ET). Grønstedet Flance was a large show cow from Alice and Gunnar Jensen, with they won many prizes and which we bought from themwhen they sold their herd.

Bloksdal Bailey

The herd’s oldest cow Bloksdal Bailey at 13 years.
She is on the father side after the stock bull Vainqueur (Emir x Pascaline), which was a French imported bull we bought as a calf by Elevage Clame Aubouard. On the mother side, she is after Bloksdal Unak -ET (Major x Pekoline Hedevang), which was an embryo we bought from Hans Topholt and and gave birth to. A strong older cow that will have its 13th live calf with us next year. In addition, she is the mother of 3 embryo calves.

The National Show

This week we should have been to The National Show in Herning.
Like so much else in Denmark this summer, this has also been canceled due to the corona pandemic. This year we were very much looking forward to, among other things, to show these two heifers: Bloksdal Perle, who is from 21-04-19 and should have been in group: heifers 12-15 months.
This would be her first show and clearly a heifer, which we expect a lot of in the future. Bloksdal Opal is from 06-01-18 and should therefore be in the oldest group: heifers 28-32 months.
She has been to show several times before and always at least entered the honorary prize competition. We think she has developed extremely positively over the past six months, and we are therefore extra annoyed by this summer’s shows has been canceled. We are therefore still looking forward to the autumn show in Aars, Kimbrerskuet, where we can hopefully be on show again and be with good friends and colleagues.

The pictures are from June 2, 2020.

Looking back at the local show in Hjørring 2019

Today is exactly one year ago since we last visited the local show in Hjørring. Unfortunately, it was canceled this year because of COVID-19.
Nevertheless, we would like to juse this opportunity to look back, on a fantastic show for Bloksdal Charolais.
In 2019, this show was the third largest Charolais show in Denmark, and we succeeded in winning the best Charolais animal on the show with our heifer Bloksdal Mirabelle -ET. Mirabelle is an embryo bought at Elevage Sallé Charolais and is after Vaillant x Anabelle.
In a few weeks we should have been to “The National Show” in Herning, which is also canceled due to the pandemic, why we can now only look forward to the autumn, where we hope that Kimbrerskue in Aars will be held and we can again come to the show and be with good friends and colleagues.
Good summer from all of us at Bloksdal Charolais.

Animals on grass 2020

We got a great deal of our animals out over the weekend. So they are now ready to go to our meadows around Ferslev all summer.
